New Student Orientation at the University of Houston-Downtown is an exciting program, geared towards welcoming new students into the Gator family. The mission of New Student Orientation is to empower new students through meaningful connections, accessible resources, and engaging experiences to foster academic excellence and a sense of belonging at the University of Houston-Downtown. During orientation, you will meet with an advisor, register for classes, learn about campus life, meet other Gators, and get a feel for the campus environment; embracing the true meaning of being “Downtown Bound.”

On behalf of our entire New Student Orientation team, I am genuinely excited to welcome you to campus officially. As the Assistant Director of New Student Orientation, it brings me so much joy, along with our amazing Gator Crew leaders, to walk alongside you as you begin this new chapter.
New Student Orientation is your first step toward finding your community, learning about the resources available to you, and building the confidence to thrive here. Our team is here to support you, answer your questions, and make sure you feel prepared every step of the way. Leading up to the start of classes, we will send helpful pre-communication reminders to ensure you are set up for success and have a smooth transition on your first day.
