Parking

All faculty, staff and students who park on UHD property must have a valid UHD permit displayed. A parking permit signifies that an individual has been granted the privilege of parking on University property but does not guarantee a parking space on campus. Alternative transportation, UHD’s RideSponsor program in partnership with METRO, will subsidize 25% of the monthly METRO fare cost (determined by zones) for student, faculty and staff
PTS provides several options, Parking Permits and Types for the campus community. If you need assistance determining the most appropriate permit for your needs, please contact the PTS Office, parking@uhd.edu or 713-221-8127.
Faculty, staff and students must purchase their parking permits online through the parking portal, Manage My Parking Account.
Visitor Garage parking is a flat fee of $10 per day. The visitor parking lot is located beneath the Welcome Center, 201 Girard Street. Interactive map.

All UHD shuttle buses are ADA compliant and are wheelchair accessible. We work closely with the Office of Disability Services and Human Resources to assist anyone that may require accommodations.
Students need to make sure they arrive to their stop early. Trains and traffic often cause delays and are out of the university's control. Arriving early also helps to better spread the capacity of students on each bus.
For the safety of all passengers, UHD shuttle bus stops are located at designated METRO bus stops. The current UHD shuttle bus stop for the Commerce Building is located at the northwest corner of Fannin and Commerce. It is the most efficient option for a shuttle bus stop because it has access to the safest pedestrian crosswalk leading to the building. Upon crossing the street, the ramp leading to the front entrance of the building can be accessed from the southwest corner of the intersection. Stopping in front of the Commerce Building would impede traffic at an already congested Commerce and Main Street intersection.
The UHD shuttle bus service only provides rides to and from UHD campus buildings and UHD-owned and leased parking lots. UHD shuttle buses run approximately 10 - 15 minutes in between routes. All UHD shuttle buses are equipped with real time GPS tracking system designed to provide you with an estimated time of arrival of the next shuttle bus. You can download the mobile app Rider Systems to your mobile device from the Apple Store or Google Play.
The parking meters are part of the City of Houston parking operations. For City of Houston parking meters not operating properly, please contact 713-837-0311 or www.houston311.org. For additional information visit the City of Houston parking meters website,
With the growth of the City of Houston, the Metro light rail was brought to the downtown area to provide relief to the congested downtown streets. With a light rail stop at our university front door, light rail tracks, as well as two-way traffic prohibit an unloading zone on the Main Street Bridge. The Girard Street shuttle bus stop provides safe and easy access to and from the One Main Building.
All university faculty, staff, students and visitors are welcome to ride the UHD shuttle buses.
There is no fee to ride UHD shuttle buses.
Our buses serve many students, faculty, staff and visitors every day, and might fill up on occasion. Don’t worry, another bus should arrive shortly. Arrival time between buses is approximately 15 minute or less intervals.
The buses will run in the rain, and even when there is a severe weather watch. If there is street flooding, the buses will take an alternative route to campus. Contact the PTS Office if you have any questions, 713-221-8127.
Please contact Parking and Transportation Services (713-221-8127), Suite N117 or UHD Dispatch, 713-221-8065, Suite N118.
