Dear Faculty,

As we all prepare for the first day of classes on Monday, August 17, we want to offer words of welcome to you all. There is something special about the start of a new school year, and we are looking forward to seeing you soon.

We also want to send some opportunities for engagement ahead of the start of term:

Join us for Gear Up, a dynamic faculty development event designed to help you start the academic year informed, connected, and ready for success. Explore the latest updates to faculty tools and programs, including Faculty Success, Watermark Course Evaluations, Canvas, Simple Syllabus, and UHD’s new Policy SharePoint site, and more.

UHD’s Academic Affairs Office invites all faculty to join us for this year's Fall Faculty Retreat, centered on the theme, “Focused on the Future: The Faculty Role in Preparing Career-Ready Graduates.” This event provides an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, engage in meaningful professional development, and prepare for the semester ahead.

Fall 2026 Convocation is for new First Time in College freshmen, and transfer students with fewer than 30 credits. We want these students to have an opportunity to experience a formal convocation ceremony, engage with peers, staff, and faculty in the colleges, and also have a chance to be on campus before the first day of classes.

Sign up to station an "Ask A Gator" kiosk on the first two days of classes. Locations are available in all academic buildings, will be stocked with snacks, water, and a volunteer resource guide to assist you during your shift. All volunteers will receive an Ask A Gator t-shirt.
Here's to a great start to the new academic year!
