Organization Description
MISSION: To stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent
                              underage drinking.
A MADD Victim Advocate can offer you emotional support and information by phone or
in person. Many of our advocates have themselves experienced the tragedy of an impaired
                           driving crash.
MADD provides a wide selection of free literature, available in English and Spanish,
for victims/survivors of crashes.   If you need financial assistance MADD Victim Advocates
can help you with referrals for funds such as Crime Victims’ Compensation.
Your advocate may provide a list of professional counselors and clergy skilled in
working with crash victims/survivors. They may also be able to refer you to a list
of civil attorneys skilled in handling wrongful death and personal injury cases.
MADD chapters may offer victim support groups where you can meet other individuals
and families who share similar experiences.  Your advocate can tell you how to obtain
the crash report and the offender’s driving record (in most states). Your advocate
can inform you about the drunk driving laws and victim rights in your state. MADD
Victim Advocates can assist you in preparing a Victim Impact Statement to present
at the sentencing of the offender.
MADD Advocates may be able to accompany you to court to offer emotional support and provide information about legal procedures.
